Barry Bonds was indicted today on 4 counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice. The charges stem from lying to a federal grand jury about whether he has knowingly taken steroids.
Earlier this year Bonds, who played for the San Francisco Giants, passed Hank Aaron to become baseball’s career home run leader with 762 homers. He was let go from the team at the end of the season and is currently a free agent.
If convicted on all charges, Bond’s could go to prison for up to 30 years.
