The Washington DC City Council passed additional legislation Tuesday requiring gun owners to participate in mandatory certified firearms training (one hour minimum at a firing range and four hours of classroom instruction) prior to registration, registration every three years and background checks every six years.
Since the US Supreme Court overturned the city’s handgun ban as unconstitutional in June, city officials have implemented other gun control measures as well.
