The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals last Thursday upheld a US District Court decision to dismiss a lawsuit that sought to allow guns to be carried in terminals, parking lots and other unsecured parts of the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The suit was filed last year by GeorgiaCarry.org after a new law allowed individuals to carry guns into restaurants, state parks and on public transportation, on the theory that the airport is considered public transportation.
US District Judge Marvin Shoob previously rejected this theory based on the ordinary definition of public transportation and legislative intent. The 11th Circuit of Court of Appeals’ three-judge panel agreed with the lower court’s decision that the claims were meritless.
