U.S. District Judge John D. Bates today dismissed a lawsuit brought by former CIA operative Valerie Plame. Plame had sought money damages against Vice President Dick Cheney, former Chief of Staff Lewis “Scooter” Libby, and two others who she claimed conspired to leak her identity in 2003.
Plame’s lawsuit contended that the disclosure of her identity by administration officials was illegal retailation for her husband’s criticism of the Bush Administration. It included a tort claim for public disclosure of private facts. She also contended that her First and Fifth Amendment rights had been violated.
Judge Bates rejected the case on jurisdicational grounds.
